Standardisation, at the core of Research & Development at IRT SystemX, facilitates collaboration between multiple industrial companies. Sharing skills and knowledge entails developing innovative methods and tools to streamline practices, and ensure the quality and sustainability of the institute’s R&D projects.
IRT SystemX collaborates with several standardisation organisations:
- AFNOR (French Standardisation Association), ASAM (Association for Standardization of Automation and Measuring Systems),
- CEN-CENELEC (European Committee for Electronical and Electrotechnical Standardisation),
- ETSI (European Telecommunications Standards Institute), LNE (National Laboratory of Metrology and Testing),
- IDTA (Industrial Digital Twin Association),
- ASAM (Association for Standardization of Automation and Measuring systems),
- Car2Car,
- GAIA-X,
- INCOSE (International Council on Systems Engineering),
- ITU (International Telecommunications Union).
The goal is to incorporate these organisations’ standards at the state-of-the-art phase of R&D projects, and to recommend a way to ensure that results of completed projects are sustainable.
Hence, the institute focuses its standardisation efforts around several predominant themes, which enhance company value: artificial intelligence, cybersecurity and digital twins.
Furthermore, IRT SystemX ensures strategic intelligence and coordinates member positions in standardisation organisations. For example, a ‘Standardisation Strategy’ work group liaises with the Confiance.ai programme’s steering committee, identifies opportunities for contribution, and supports experts in their standardisation approach.
In years to come, IRT SystemX is committed to supporting a national and European standardisation strategy. By adhering to standardisation associations, the institute strengthens its activities in the industry, and contributes to its future development and to the optimisation of industrial processes. IRT SystemX will continue to play an active role in emerging new standards and, as a result, strengthen its unique position.
