Your role: to strengthen the “Scientific Computation and Optimization” research team. You will be involved in collaborative R&D projects applied to the mobility and logistics sectors.

Job description

You will report directly to the head of the Scientific Computing and Optimization team, and report operationally to the project managers. The position is based in Palaiseau.

  • Your main tasks:
  • Analyze industrial use cases: identify the scientific and technological obstacles to be overcome;
  • Design solutions: methodologies, architecture, technological solutions;
  • Develop proofs of concept;
  • Analyze results;
  • Document work and participate in transferring results;
  • Communicate in conferences or reference journals;
  • Contribute to the development and implementation of the Institute’s scientific and technological roadmap.

 

Levels of responsibility and autonomy will vary according to your experience.

 

SKILLS

You will contribute to projects focused on modeling transportation systems. To do so, you will draw on proven skills in the following areas:

  • Data management: processing, analysis and visualization of raw data from the transport and energy sectors;
  • Simulation: multi-agent and 4-step approach;
  • Optimization: routing algorithms and combinatorial optimization.

MISSIONS

Within the framework of specific projects, your tasks will include:

  • Urban and suburban mobility:
  • Design methods and scenarios for a multi-agent simulation tool (MATSim);
  • Develop and run simulations, validate results;
  • Valuation of simulation outputs;
  • Integrate developments into the LIAISON platform.
  • The intersection of mobility and energy issues:
  • Draw up a technological roadmap to bring the LIAISON platform to maturity;
  • Develop specific components: data processing and simulation;
  • Integrate developments into the LIAISON platform.

Profil

You have an engineering degree, master’s or doctorate in computer science, data science or applied mathematics.

Professional and interpersonal skills:

  • Curiosity, initiative, analytical skills and rigor;
  • Adaptability and autonomy;
  • Ability to work in project mode: monitoring and progress of work, promotion and communication of results;
  • Good interpersonal skills, ability to work as part of a team;
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills in French and English.
