JNS – Digital Twin of soils for agriculture
Project description
Towards a high-quality and effective sustainable agriculture.
Launched in July 2023, the project Jumeau Numérique des Sols (JNS – Digital Twin of soils for agriculture) brings together the know-how of several high-end industrial and academic partners. It aims to develop a demonstrator that integrates a decision-making tool to follow and manage the activities of soils and ground vegetation. The demonstrator will provide precise, reliable and regularly updated indicators, namely in terms of carbon storage. It will establish models to quantify carbon storage at the level of farm plots in order to foster its reuse. The ultimate goal is to protect and make good use of soils in order to optimise agricultural practices. It comes within the scope of the French AgriTech agenda, delivered by the French government for a “more sovereign, sustainable and resilient agriculture”. In particular, the priority is to “mobilise agricultural R&D on the use of digital tools towards the agroecological transition” within the roadmap on “Agriculture and Digital Tools” (Agriculture et Numérique).
Expected results
Provide players of the agricultural world with a demonstrator that integrates a decision-making and prediction system based on a representative model of soils and ground vegetation, towards higher economic and environmental performance.
