SystemX, the only institute for technological research dedicated to the digital engineering of the systems of the future, announces the appointment of Paul Labrogère as CEO on September 5, 2018. Previously Director of the “Autonomous Transport” program of SystemX, he takes over Éric Perrin-Pelletier, who has headed the research institute since its creation.

Paul Labrogère‘s appointment comes five months after Michel Morvan‘s appointment as the President of the institute for technological research (IRT). SystemX thus acquires a new tandem capable of operating its strategic plan for the 2020-2025 period.
The ambition is to establish SystemX as the engine for the digital transformation of industries and services in France and to make it a benchmark for complex systems on an international scale. Another challenge for the new CEO of SystemX is to change the institute’s business model, created in 2012, in order to sustain its activities. This will include identifying new levers to accelerate value creation for the research institute’s ecosystem, particularly for SMEs and start-ups.
For this, Paul Labrogère will consolidate a strategy oriented around three aspects. The first is to encourage industry partners to aggressively test new technology solutions and to help them understand their business value by developing proofs of concept and prototypes. The second part concerns the identification of critical industrial challenges and the accompaniment of the development of skills of industrial partners through multi-partner research projects. The third component consists in carrying out very exploratory research work in close collaboration with high level academic players in order to enrich their common knowledge (e.g. BART initiative, Anthropolis Chair).

Paul Labrogère’s profile at the crossroads of innovation and management, as well as his experience within the research institute seem to me particularly suited to effectively steer the research institute in this new phase of development. I fully trust him to implement this new strategy”, commented Michel Morvan, President of IRT SystemX.

I am very excited to take over the leadership of IRT SystemX, which has demonstrated its effectiveness since its inception by providing a unique technological foundation around 31 research projects, involving 83 industry partners – 2/3 of which are SMEs – and 24 academic laboratories, and 9 reference technology platforms. My ambition for the research institute on this second phase of its development, is to use my experience in research, engineering and project / program management within private and public organizations to bridge the world of research and the world of industry, start-ups and large groups, systems and their uses”, added Paul Labrogère.
